Sister Bay Tap Line

Dairyland Power Cooperative is rebuilding 6 miles of 69,000-volt (69 kV) transmission line from Oelker Road to Dairyland's Sister Bay Distribution Substation located along Frogg Road in Sawyer County, Wis. The line is in an aged condition and is reaching the end of its asset life. The project will involve removing the existing line and building a new line within the existing corridor, but offset approximately 30 feet from the existing line. The offsetting will ensure the existing line remains operational during construction since the line cannot be taken out of service for long periods of time due to local electrical needs. Once rebuilt, this transmission line will have an improved line rating and lightning protection, which will improve system reliability in this service territory.
