Ben Porath is Dairyland Power Cooperative’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. The Operations division is responsible for the generation and transmission of power to Dairyland’s 24-member distribution cooperatives. It also includes Dairyland’s System Operations Center, purchasing and warehouse functions, Resource Planning and Power Marketing functions.
Ben was elected to serve on the Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) Board of Directors in November 2021, representing the cooperative sector. He is also a member of the La Crosse Area Family YMCA’s Board of Directors.
Ben joined Dairyland as a Transmission Strategist in 2003. Prior to his current role as EVP/COO, Ben served as Dairyland’s Director, System Operations and Vice President, Power Delivery.
A native of Sandpoint, Idaho, Ben earned a BA in Physics from Hamline University and a Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law. Prior to joining Dairyland, he held positions at Open Access Technology International, Inc., (OATI) and the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP).
