Dairyland urges caution on Reservoir as spring approaches

March 2, 2020

Dairyland  urges caution to those who are using the Dairyland Reservoir in Ladysmith for recreational activities. The ice becomes unstable and dangerous as spring approaches.

As the spring run-off starts, Dairyland will be implementing a normal drawdown of between one to two feet, to help control levels during rapidly changing flows. The total drawdown could be as much as three feet, depending on the amount of additional precipitation and how quickly the snow melts.

Generating Sites

Dairyland Power Cooperative owns and operates several power plants. Our baseload, coal-fired power plants are located along the Mississippi River in Wisconsin. We also have natural gas, hydroelectric, landfill gas, and solar generation in Wisconsin.
