  • Dairyland Power Cooperative plans to expand generating capacity at the Veolia ES Seven Mile Creek Landfill gas-to-energy facility in Eau Claire, Wis. Plans include adding a fourth generator of approximately 1 megawatt (MW) in size to the facility located in the Eau Claire Energy Cooperative service area in late 2007.
  • PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on October 24, 2006, Minnesota utilities will be conducting a public meeting in Rochester, Minnesota, to present information about possible future transmission line projects in southeastern Minnesota and to seek input from local governmental officials and the public about local transmission needs and inadequacies and possible solutions.
  • Waste Management, Inc., and Dairyland Power Cooperative dedicated a landfill gas-to-energy generating facility near Lake Mills, Iowa, this fall. The 4.8 MW renewable energy facility, located at the Central Disposal Landfill, can power 4,000 homes in Dairylandís four-state service territory. It came online in spring 2006.
  • Dairyland and its member electric cooperatives are asking consumers to help lower electrical demand during the hot, humid weather, especially from 3 to 8 p.m. Customers are asked to limit electrical consumption during this time of record-setting energy use.
  • Dairyland Power Cooperative has invested in more renewable energy for its members by purchasing the electricity from two new landfill gas-to-energy (LGE) generating facilities, owned by Waste Management, Inc. The generating facilities are sited at the Timberline Trail Landfill near Bruce, Wis., and the Central Disposal Landfill near Lake Mills, Iowa. Both came online in spring 2006.

  • Dairyland Power Cooperative was pleased to see strong bipartisan support in todayís passing of an energy bill designed to increase the amount of renewable energy generated in Wisconsin to 10 percent by 2015.
  • Dairyland Power Cooperative welcomes the addition of Hank Walters, Manager, Fuel Logistics in Procurement, who joined Dairyland Feb. 13. In this new position, Walters will be handling the contract administration and daily coordination necessary for the purchase and transportation of coal to Dairylandís generating facilities in Genoa and Alma, Wis.
  • Dairyland Power Cooperative announces the promotion of Marc Christianson to the position of Manager, Maintenance, at the John P. Madgett power plant in Alma, Wis.
  • Dairyland Power Cooperative announces the promotion of Heath Fabian to the position of Manager, Safety (Power Plant Operations) at Dairylandís Alma Site. In his new position, Fabian will be responsible for directing the employees at Dairylandís Alma, Elk Mound and Ladysmith sites to ensure a safe work environment.
