  • Dairyland Power Cooperative Buys 30% Stake in Weston 4 (November 29, 2005)
    Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, a subsidiary of WPS Resources Corporation (NYSE: WPS) and Dairyland Power Cooperative (Dairyland) closed a transaction, originally announced late in 2004, in which Dairyland acquired a 30 percent ownership share of the Weston 4 power plant currently under construction near Wausau, Wisconsin.
  • Dairyland Power Beginning Lake Flambeau Boat Ramp Improvements (October 5, 2005)
    Lake Flambeau’s North Landing boat ramp will be closed beginning Thursday, Oct. 6, for approximately a month for extensive improvements.
  • Dairyland Contracts for LACBWR Reactor Pressure Vessel Removal (August 30, 2005)
    Dairyland Power Cooperative has entered into a contract with Duratek, Inc., a national nuclear waste services contractor, to facilitate the removal and disposal of low-level waste from Dairyland’s shut-down La Crosse Boiling Water Reactor (LACBWR) nuclear facility.

    Clarence Boettcher, director representing Eau Claire Energy Cooperative (Fall Creek, Wis.) was recently elected Chairman of the Dairyland Power Cooperative Board of Directors.
  • First DPC "Cow Power" Facility Comes Online (June 22, 2005)
    Dairyland Power Cooperative, in partnership with Microgy, Inc., (a subsidiary of Environmental Power Corp.) celebrated bringing its first anaerobic digester “cow power” facility online with a ribbon cutting at Five Star Dairy in Elk Mound, Wis., on Wednesday. Five Star Dairy is served by Dunn Energy Cooperative, a member of the Dairyland system.
  • Dairyland Power Conducting Annual Spillway Gate Test (May 1, 2005)
    Dairyland Power Cooperative will be conducting the annual spillway gate opening test from Monday, May 15, to Wednesday, May 17, at its Flambeau Hydroelectric Station on the Flambeau River. The test is mandated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
  • Peregrine Falcons at Dairyland Plant Relocate to Natural Bluff (April 21, 2005)
    For the first time since the efforts to restore Peregrine falcons to Western Wisconsin began in the 1990s, a pair of Peregrines switched from a power plant manmade nesting box at Dairyland Power Cooperative’s Alma (Wis.) Generating Station to a nearby cliff site.

    Dairyland Power Cooperative urges caution to those using Lake Flambeau for recreational activities in the coming weeks. The ice becomes unstable and dangerous as spring approaches.
  • Spent Nuclear Fuel Site Recommended for Licensing (February 24, 2005)
    The Atomic Safety & Licensing Board (ASLB) of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) today recommended that an operating license be granted to Private Fuel Storage LLC (PFS).
  • Dairyland is EPA's 2004 Energy Partner of the Year (January 10, 2005)
    Dairyland Power Cooperative has received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Landfill Methane Outreach Program’s (LMOP) 2004 Energy Partner of the Year award for the ONYX Seven Mile Creek Landfill Gas-to-Energy plant. Dairyland was selected for its success launching the innovative plant, and the environmental benefits of the renewable energy facility.
